Your festival skin reset

Festival Skin SOS: how to rescue and reset your skin after a festival weekend

Festival weekend is over, but your skin might be sending out an SOS. After days of camping, dancing, late nights, sunshine or rain, sweat and plenty of SPF and makeup, it is probably in need of a bit of rescue and reset.

The good news is that you don’t need a complicated skincare routine to help your skin recover. A few simple steps can help your skin feel fresh, hydrated and happy again.

Here’s how to give your complexion the rescue mission it needs after a weekend of fun:

1. Wash away the festival

Start by gently cleansing your face to remove any leftover makeup, SPF, sweat and general festival grime. Avoid scrubbing too hard or using lots of different products at once, as this can leave your skin feeling irritated. Cleansing Pads are perfect for giving your skin a gentle first cleanse and getting rid of any leftover makeup and SPF.

Once your skin is clean, follow up with Universal Cream Cleanser. Gently massage it into your skin before rinsing it away to leave your face feeling fresh and clean without that uncomfortable, tight feeling.

2. Give your skin some hydration

If your skin feels dry or tight after spending the weekend outdoors, it is time to give it some extra hydration. Hydrate & Nourish Tonic Milk can be used after cleansing to give your skin a boost of moisture and help it feel comfortable again.

Remember that skincare is not the only way to hydrate. After a festival weekend, make sure you are drinking plenty of water too.

3. Don’t skip moisturiser

Your skin has been through a lot, so don’t forget to moisturise. Using a moisturiser helps keep your skin feeling soft and comfortable while supporting your skin barrier as it gets back to normal.

Universal Soft-Cream Moisturiser is an easy final step after cleansing and hydrating. Just apply a small amount across your face and you’re good to go.

4. Don’t attack your spots

You might get a few breakouts after a festival. Between sweat, makeup, sunscreen, touching your face and a lack of sleep, it’s not exactly surprising.

But try not to panic and start using lots of harsh products to get rid of them.

Your skin doesn’t need punishing. Keep your routine gentle and resist the temptation to squeeze or pick at spots, as this can make irritation worse and leave marks behind.

5. Give your skin a break

When you get home, it can be tempting to try every face mask, scrub and exfoliator you own to undo the weekend.

Don’t.

Keep things simple for a few days. Cleanse, hydrate and moisturise, and give your skin some time to settle. You also do not need to suddenly start using lots of new skincare products. If your usual routine works for you, stick with it.

6. SPF is not just for festivals

If you spent the weekend outside, your skin has probably had plenty of sun exposure already. That doesn’t mean SPF can disappear from your routine now.

Keep using sunscreen when you are outside, even once festival season is over. It should be the final step of your morning skincare routine.

7. Get back into your normal routine

The ultimate post festival skincare secret? Sleep.

As someone who has attended my fair share of festivals, I know just how easy it is to completely throw your usual routine out the window for a weekend. Between staying up late, spending all day on your feet and probably not drinking as much water as you normally would, your body and your skin could definitely do with some TLC when you get home.
Get some proper rest, drink plenty of water and get back to eating your usual meals. You don’t need to do anything extreme to detox after a festival. Sometimes the best thing you can do is simply give yourself a chance to recover and settle back into your normal routine.

And that’s it. Your skincare routine doesn’t need a complete overhaul after a festival weekend. Give it some gentle care, plenty of hydration and a bit of time to recover.

Your festival memories will last forever, but the post-festival skin will not.
