Morning vs evening skincare: what's actually different?

Raise your hand if you’ve ever wondered why everyone says you need a morning skincare routine and an evening one 🙋‍♀️
I’m sure at some point we’ve all thought: “Isn’t skincare just skincare… do I really need to think about timing?” Yes and no.

While your skin isn’t exactly checking the clock before deciding what it needs, your AM and PM routines do have different jobs. During the day, your skin is busy defending itself from the outside world, while at night, it gets a chance to reset and recover.

So, no, you don’t need some completely different 10-step routine or a bathroom shelf full of new day and night products. But a few little swaps can make a big difference. Let’s break it down.

Morning skincare = Protection mode

Think of your morning routine as getting your skin ready to face the day.

From UV rays and air pollution to sweat and everything else life throws at your skin, your morning routine is all about protecting your skin barrier and keeping it hydrated.

Here’s all you really need to do:

Step 1: Cleanse. Your skin’s been working while you sleep, so start the day by washing away any oil that’s built up overnight with a gentle cleanser, like indu’s Universal Cream Cleanser.

Step 2: Hydrate. Next up: moisturiser. Hydrated skin = happy skin, and a lightweight moisturiser helps keep your skin feeling fresh without feeling greasy. The indu Universal Soft-Cream Moisturiser is perfect if you want hydration that feels light enough for everyday wear.

Step 3: SPF. Every. Single. Day. We know… everyone says it. But there’s a reason! SPF helps protect your skin from UV damage (yes, even when it’s cloudy), making it one of the most important steps in your routine. Think of it as your skin’s daily bodyguard.

Evening skincare = Recovery mode.

By bedtime, your skin has been through a lot. Makeup, sun cream, sweat, oil, the works! It all builds up throughout the day. Your evening routine is your chance to hit reset and give your skin the revival it deserves.

Step 1: Cleanse. Cleansing before bed helps remove everything that’s been sitting on your skin all day, leaving it feeling clean and refreshed. Using a combination of Cleansing Pads and Universal Cream Cleanser will do the trick. I mean, talk about a power couple!

Step 2:  Hydrate. After cleansing, your skin is ready for some hydration. The indu Hydrate & Nourish Tonic Milk helps replenish hydration and prep your skin before moisturising. Follow with the indu Universal Soft-Cream Moisturiser to lock it all in and keep your skin soft and comfortable.

Step 3: Lock it all in. Finish with your moisturiser so your skin has everything it needs while it gets to work overnight.

Fun fact: your skin naturally goes into repair mode while you sleep, making nighttime the perfect opportunity to give it a little extra love.

So… what’s the actual difference?

Morning = Cleanse and protect. Evening = Cleanse and recover. That’s it!

You don’t need two completely different routines or loads of fancy products, just a routine that matches what your skin needs at that time of day.

The key is to keep it simple

If skincare feels overwhelming, remember this: you don’t need to copy every routine you see on your For You Page.

A gentle cleanser, a hydrating moisturiser and SPF are a great place to start. Once you’ve nailed the basics, you can always add more IF your skin needs it.

Because when it comes to skincare, consistency tops complexity.
